Despite standing on a 3-2 run, the Wildcats didn’t make it to the No.18 rank on the AP polls out of sheer luck. Behind much of their success is their QB Avery Johnson. Do not take this dude lightly because he can make some plays on that turf. Take the Oklahoma game, for example. Avery Johnson managed to sneak in 5 touchdowns and took the Wildcats to a 42-20 dub against a No.20 ranked opponent.
However, when the games aren’t happening, our underrated QB takes a different route at using his free time of the bye-week. On the latest pre-game conference before the Wildcats hit the turf against the Buffs, Avery Johnson opens up regarding what he did before the do-or-die clash. “Just stepping away from football, resetting. After Thursday practice, we had Friday through the weekend off. I went home, saw family and friends, which was refreshing,” Avery mentioned.

Now, you might wonder why is he wasting his time. However, Johnson and the Wildcats have proven their worth already. This is the same team that almost managed to grab the dub against arguably the best team in CFB, Georgia Bulldogs.
Kirby Smart and his boys narrowly escaped with 13-12 on the scoreboard. Wildcats’ offense ain’t the only thing you gotta worry about. The defense easily manages to cripple even the best of the run games and gives Avery enough shot at bringing it home.
The question now is; could Avery spend his time with friends and family come back to bite him during the Colorado clash? What you gotta keep in mind is that Deion Sanders and Co. are on a run right now. With 3 massive back-to-back wins, Coach Prime ain’t gonna let Avery get off the hook easily.

The ultimate test for Deion Sanders
Coming off of the solid UCF game, the Buffs have already managed to capture the 2nd rank on the Big 12 list. The team is currently in a place that is leagues better than where they were during the 2023 season.
The defense has been on point. Take the UCF game as an example. Robert Livingstone and what he has done with the defensive line managed to stomp and lock down the heavy run game of the knights. They did not get any shot at making solid plays.

The offense is another story. Shedeur Sanders has been on point with his plays. With Pat Shurmur’s help, Shedeur’s understanding and presence from the pocket have improved by a huge margin. Take that and pair it with Travis Hunter’s skill and you get a combination that is deadly enough to take down the best. Now, what’s left to see is what Deion manages to get done next week. Let us know who you think would catch this W.
