Do you know what’s so much fun about this entire Heisman race? Yeah, the common fact that no QB is getting that trophy is true, but this entire war that’s been going on between fans on Ashton Jeanty vs Travis Hunter is what makes waiting for this award feel so exciting. See, there is no doubt that Ashton Jeanty is one of the best running backs this college football season. This guy is on top of almost every chart in terms of stats. 13 games in and he is already locked in with over 2400 rushing yards with 29 rushing touchdowns. And now that Boise State has managed to snag the Midwestern title crown, there is pretty much nothing stopping Ashton Jeanty from taking the “Best RB in the country” title.
Right? Yeah, you see, when there is a crown at play, there will always be a usurper. And when it comes down to the RB room, then there is a new contender in town. With Arizona State winning the Big 12 title game against Iowa State, Sun Devils RB Cam Skattebo now thinks he is the real deal. “Nobody respects the fact that I’m the best RB in the country and I’m gonna stand on that,” Cam mentioned during the post-game conference. 2 rushing touchdowns with 170 yards and 16 attempts against a good enough Iowa State defensive line. Pretty good if you ask us.

But is it good enough to match what Jeanty is doing? Cam has managed to bring in 247 carries with over 1300 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Devils. These are almost half as much as what Jeanty has gotten. While Sun Devils fans will agree with what Cam had to say, if we look at the bigger picture, Jeanty just takes the cake.
He went ballistic against UNLV. With over 200 yards and around 32 rush attempts with 1 touchdown for the Broncos. Haven’t we talked more than enough about this? Jeanty has done more than any other RB Heisman winners like Reggie Bush or Derrick Henry.
Just look at those stats. Do you think a normal human is capable of doing all that? No discredit to Cam. He has done more than enough for ASU but that is nearly not enough compared to what Jeanty has done across all of the games for the Broncos. And as we pointed out before, with the title conference crown and an amazing playoff berth, Jeanty might be closer to the Heisman than Hunter.

Breaking the QB dominance over Heisman
Credit where credit is due, what Travis Hunter does on both sides of the football, Ashton Jeanty could never do. But then again, Jeanty has a conference title and is in the playoff talk. Will the Heisman tip in this favor because of this?
Right now, as per the latest odds, Hunter is still on top. With -2500 to his name, there is no one close enough. Jeanty has the second spot but with +1000 odds. See, for Travis, he has managed to catch the football 92 times along with over 1000 yards and 14 touchdowns.

That was just the offense stats. On the defense, he has 31 tackles with a beautiful forced fumble against Baylor and 4 interceptions on 65 yards. Yeah, the conference game and the playoff game could end up changing the odds but we still gotta wait for all that to happen. One thing is for sure though: Cam just ain’t in the same league.
