But isn’t it unfair to Broncos’ sensational player Ashton Jeanty, who stands fifth all-time for most rushing yards in a single FBS season? Moreover, he is just 340 yards behind NFL legend and running back Barry Sanders’s record of a total of 2,628 yards. But now, the CU Buffs’ Heisman campaign for their two-way star is gaining all the spotlight. A giant Times Square billboard is making a strong case for him as the best player in college football with catchy slogans. This might even give Hunter a slight edge over Ashton Jeanty in the Heisman race.

Travis Hunter’s resume this season is nothing short of exceptional. He completed the regular season with 92 interceptions for 1152 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns and would have scored much more on the field if injury had not given him a step back. But even with all the shortcomings, Hunter did manage to make it to the No. 1 position in the Heisman odds and might win too. However, it now looks like that’s not an easy task.

Ashton Jeanty might have an edge over Travis Hunter

Well, Travis Hunter has never been hesitant to show his desire to win the Heisman Trophy, either by making bold claims or by making comparisons with his competitor Jeanty. Since the season began, Hunter’s been struggling with feeling undervalued, constantly undermined by criticism and backlash, leaving him on the brink. Either because of the hate for Buffs or because of his desire to win. However, there is no doubt that Travis Hunter is the best player throughout the season, but even then he will not be able to perform in the championship week. Quite a bummer, as the Buffs will not be playing in the Big 12 championship, and there is a high possibility that Hunter’s presence might go out of sight this week.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Ashton Jeanty being overshadowed by media hype, or does he truly deserve the Heisman?

Have an interesting take?

Whereas in the case of Ashton Jeanty, his team will be playing against UNLV this Friday, and if Boise State wins against them, they will get a direct entry into the playoffs. If this is the case, Jeanty can get an advantage over Hunter as they will be playing in a conference championship game, and that holds a lot of value. This game will also add big numbers to Jeanty’s already impressive track record, and Travis Hunter will have no chance to even improve his standing. Now, Hunter’s Heisman chances depend entirely on Boise State losing to UNLV; otherwise, it’ll be a tough battle.
