You know what, CBS Sports brought some interesting facts a few days back. Over the years, 3 RBs have managed to snag the Heisman: Derrick Henry, Mark Ingram, and Reggie Bush. This season, Ashton Jeanty is someone who is looking up to mark his name on that list. And why is he the perfect candidate? In terms of rushing yards, Ashton Jeanty has managed to collect 1,525 yards till now. This is more than double that of the previous RB Heisman winners. People knew that this dude had the capability of breaking the QB dominance over the awards when he managed to gain 26 carries and 4 beautiful touchdowns against the Cougars. But, what if we tell you that none of this would’ve been possible if Jeanty didn’t have fate on his side?
College GameDay took to their Instagram account to share a few clips of Jeanty talking about his childhood troubles. “The Jeanty’s moved often. By the time he was in Middle School, Ashton had lived in Georgia, Florida, and Virginia,” College GameDay mentioned. See, Jeanty’s father, Harry Jeanty, was a CPO in the US Navy. What this meant was constant relocation and moving, and this made sticking to one school and building your career from there quite hard. But then again, fate had a different plan. “When he was 13, an American military base in Italy became his home,” mentioned College GameDay.

Naples HS was the place where Ashton finally found his calling: “football.” “The very first time I saw Ashton was on the basketball court, and I was just like, wow, this kid’s got a lot of power,” Naples HC Jim Davis mentioned. Till 2019, Ashton played for the Naples Wildcats, and then he had to finally leave Italy to get exposure and play on a higher level, and that is where Lone Star HS at Texas came in.
However, the road was still not clear. Ashton managed to garner 1,800 yards along with 41 touchdowns under his belt while playing for Lone Star, but the big break he was waiting for never really came until a familiar name knocked on the door. “It like fueled that fire in me to go even harder. It was never given to me anything. It was all earned,” Ashton mentioned.
Joining Boise State, in his 2 years, Ashton managed to grab 26 total touchdowns along with 2,100 yards. This year? Boy, oh boy, the dude has already managed to cross 1,500+ yards in just 8 games, along with 20 touchdowns and 190 carries. It ain’t no wonder why he is one of the frontrunners for the Heisman. However, with the season almost nearing its end, it feels like Jeanty has to work harder to get his name on that trophy.
Against all odds, there goes Ashton Jeanty

See, for the Heisman race, we all know about the entire Travis Hunter vs. Ashton drama. At this point, the QBs will end up losing their rights to the trophy and the ones to break that run would either be the Boise State RB or the Buffs WR/CB. If we strictly talk about stats, Jeanty does take the lead over Hunter.
Dude has managed to smoothly carry Boise State through almost every game. The team itself is averaging 30+ points in each of their showdowns and in the center of it all is Jeanty with his carries. However, here is the deal; what Jeanty is doing on one side of the football, Hunter is doing on both.
For Hunter, carrying the team on the defense AND the offense is like just another walk in the park. He has managed to make Big 12 history by grabbing Offense AND Defensive weekly honors at the same time. And not only that, Hunter is now standing on +200 Heisman odds, with the only one close to him being QB Cam Ward.
