Sherrone Moore and Michigan Wolverines have taken a lot of punches in their gut that are too deep to be healed by a single blowout victory again at the Ohio State Buckeyes. Sure, it’s an annual glory that the Wolves strive for every year, but a lackluster season doesn’t stop haunting them in any way. However, it’s time to move on as a compelling postseason is kicking off. Michigan has touched down in Tampa, Florida, to face Alabama Crimson Tide in a rematch of last season’s spectacular Rose Bowl showdown. Before reeling in a hard practice session, QB Davis Warren weighs in on the approaching game with whizz-kid energy.

The former leukemia survivor-turned-walk-on quarterback dreamed to be at the starting gig for the Wolverines and lead the team to a national title. Warren got hold of his first dream and wrapped up the regular season strong as a starting QB with a captivating 13-10 win over Ohio State in Columbus. While the national title hopes remained quiescent, Warren shifted his focus to what lies next. The breathing time allowed the team to get better. “You get those couple weeks between Ohio (State) and this game, and you get a chance to reflect a little bit on the season, but I think we’ve taken it in stride and taken it as a real opportunity to get better at football and thinking about things you did during the year, things you did well, things you can improve on, and how you can work on them over these next two to three weeks of practice that we’ve had. … That’s been the goal — just getting better at football and preparing for our opponent while doing it,” the Michigan QB said.

With the huge transfer portal hype, fans already started hoping for a 2025 turnaround. They can’t wait to see Bryce Underwood, Chip Lindsey, and a lot of new faces in Ann Arbor pay off in their debut season, but Warren doesn’t think they should jump on to the next, flying in the face of an Alabama rematch.

“Michigan needs us to win this game, we want to win this game and we plan on winning this game. So, I know we’re going to take that approach. It’s a really good opportunity for all of us,” Warren set the bar high for the Bama clash

Davis Warren has taken a lot throughout the season. From edging out Alex Orji as the main QB in one game to getting benched in the next three games for turnover issues (six interceptions), he hit an all-time low in the season. But he stood up, turned the page, and didn’t seem to be afraid of getting under the shadow of Bruce Underwood again.

Davis Warren is going nowhere shortly

Underwood, the $10.5 million LSU transfer, brought a lot of hope to the struggling Michigan offense. He stepped into the practice and started showing signs of a high-flying turnout. The unreal Michigan kid caught the team off guard in his debut mock game this week. Warren said, he is a fierce competitor but at the same time. He is humble and willing to learn from everyone. He carries the team spirit and fits in the Wolverines’ energy perfectly. But if Underwood advances much, we all know that Davis Warren has to vacate his dream spot sooner or later. But that doesn’t shake his commitment to Michigan.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Davis Warren lead Michigan to victory, or will Alabama crush their postseason dreams again?

Have an interesting take?

If you study the portal, you can, in no way, unsee the most unethical, random trends of taking over the players and swooping them in the higher NIL, giving schools in between a peak season. So, it’s natural for Moore, who has already lost a lot of his lions, to fear his existing Mr. reliable, Davis Warren. But Warren is giving him all the benefits of the doubt.

Warren revealed that he had a talk with the head coach and he assured him of his commitment amidst the wave of departures. He continues to live up to his word for another year at least, while an Alabama victory only adds value to his goodwill.
