Is Arch Manning's last name a blessing or a curse for his college football career?

Manning last name or not, Arch is just Arch! His Texas Longhorns played an incredible game against UTEP on Saturday. Even after losing their star quarterback, Quinn Ewers, to an abdominal strain, the team still secured a massive 56-7 win, thanks to freshman quarterback Arch Manning’s outstanding performance.

But, it seems his performance isn’t enough to prove his abilities to some people. His famous last name is overshadowing his accomplishments. Today on the “On3” YouTube channel, host Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman talked about Arch Manning while discussing the Texas quarterback position for the upcoming games after Quinn Ewers’ injury. Andy Staples pointed out that critics are targeting Arch simply because he comes from the legendary Manning family.

Apparently, scoring a 67-yard touchdown and running for 223 yards with four touchdowns isn’t enough for some to appreciate his talent. Being related to NFL legends like Peyton and Eli Manning can have its downsides. However, co-host Ari Wasserman added, “His last name is probably an asset.” He emphasized that, even without the Manning name, Arch is a great player, saying, “He’s a 6’4″, 225 lbs athlete who reached 20.4 miles an hour during his touchdown run.” Well, those stats come from talent, not just a famous name.

The hosts also noted that having coaches and star players in the family often leads to better performance on the field. They praised Arch Manning’s role as a backup QB for Texas after Quinn’s injury, stating, “We don’t know the extent of Quinn’s injury just yet, but it doesn’t really matter because Arch Manning came into the game.” His performance speaks for itself, proving that he’s more than just his last name.

Arch Manning getting appreciated after UTEP blowout

Arch Manning’s remarkable performance is getting him all the necessary limelight. During Texas’ game against UTEP, Manning threw for four touchdowns. Following that, NFL legend and star quarterback Vince Young appreciated him for his outstanding gameplay. After the match, Young took to his X account to say, “Ok, respect #16, I see you, champ!!” Well, looking at Arch’s rushing game, this comment was quite obvious.

After witnessing his strength on the field, Brad compared him with Quinn Ewers, saying, “He can move a little bit better than Ewers.” Well, Arch did add a lot of value to the team’s position after Quinn’s departure, but then there are still uncertainties around his starting position.
