Three weeks into the college football season, fans are eagerly discussing the latest quarterback sensation of 2024. Prime Time’s son Shedeur Sanders and Ole Miss Rebels’ QB Jaxson Dart have much of the spotlight due to their strong performances and high-profile reputations. With a 3-0 record, Ole Miss Rebels look stronger than Sanders’s Buffaloes. Yet, amid the fan following and hype surrounding these quarterbacks, the Miami Hurricanes’s Cam Ward has turned the tables in his favor. Jerry Rice Award winner needed three starts to show college football fans he deserves a seat at the top of the table.

Today, PFF College shared the highest-graded quarterbacks this season on X. Cam Ward is leading the points table with 93.4 points. Unfortunately, Shedeur Sanders is not in the top four contenders. The other three names in the top 4 are Taylen Green, Jaxson Dart and Thomas Castellanos.

Cam’s impressive performance against the Cardinals, where he completed 19 out of 28 passes for 346 yards and five touchdowns, led Miami to their third back-to-back victory. How impressive was his performance? Well, he had four TDs in the first half. The Hurricanes’ dominant 56-0 meant that Emory Williams replaced Ward to finish the game. It isn’t a one-off. In fact, Ward set a record for the most 300-yard passing games to start a season in Miami’s history.

Ward’s standout performance has not only solidified his position as a top QB, but he has also caught the attention of NFL scouts. His skills and agility on the ground make him the top contender, but his ability to execute under pressure has gained a lot of attention, considering all the positives. Hurricanes fans have a lot of reasons to cheer loudly for their favorite team for their next matchup against South Florida on September 22.

Colorado’s Shedeur is a headline magnet; Cam Ward has joined him after his outstanding performances this season. If we compare both, the quarterbacks share quite a few similarities. Both of them have been trained under the same QB coach, Darrell Colbert Jr, since they started their college football careers.

Sanders has clarified that he will continue to complete his college eligibility before entering the NFL draft. After the comparison between the QBs heated up, Sanders had a conversation with Ward about his decisions with college football analyst Robert GrifFin III. He said, “I said, bro (Ward), you got to come back, bro.” Sanders added, “It’s just not even; it’s not in your favor in that way. So I told him, and then I really got into it with him about that. Like, I honestly stopped talking to him for a little bit. Like bro, you tripping, bro.” Sanders truly believes that gaining experience before moving on to a professional level is very important. On the other hand, the current leading QB seems to have a different perspective. But Sanders respects Ward’s decision and feels that Ward made the right choice.

Adding to the conversation, he stated, “So it was an honest conversation. Then he came back, and, you know, everything’s going to work out for him.” Sanders’s comments reflect the respect and affection he has for Ward, and the healthy competition won’t affect their relationship.
