Is Shilo Sanders the next big thing, or just riding on his father's legendary coattails?

A proud Deion Sanders beamed with joy as both of his sons put on impressive displays to stretch the Buffs winning streak to three games. The game also had a standout moment when Shilo scored a six-yard touchdown on a fumble and celebrated by doing his father’s trademark dance from his NFL days. Shilo needed this performance, especially given how challenging this season has been for him on and off the field.

The 41-27 win against Texas Tech on Saturday took the Buffs to 7-2 as they stay in contention for the Big 12 Championship and a playoff spot. While Shedeur has been at the front and center of their impressive campaign, Shilo had to miss a month of action recovering from arm surgery. On top of that, he finds himself in a  $11.89 million bankruptcy battle. However, he has continued to put his best foot forward on the field and was rewarded on Saturday, with his efforts drawing support from his mother, Pilar, and brother Shedeur.

Sharing a video of the touchdown and subsequent celebration, paying tribute to his father, Pilar wrote, “GO @shilosanders 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉”on her Instagram. He had more encouragement coming his way from his brother, who talked about him in the post-game presser.

“We had a lot of talks, overall, just anything. and I feel like he got the attitude back. I think the injury set him back a little bit mentally and everything. I think it did a little bit, whether he admitted or not, but I think so. that, knowing that he’s going out there, he’s hitting how he’s supposed to, he’s doing everything, how he was back, is happy, and it shows that he’s on the right track,” Shedeur said.

This was also a significant moment for Shilo, who had to face harsh criticism from his father after his first game following his return from injury. Last month on October 12, he had seven tackles against Kansas State, but Coach Prime wasn’t pleased with what he saw.

“I thought he played horrible. I thought he was rusty. I thought he didn’t have his footing,” Deion had said. Well, safe to say Shilo must have impressed his father in more ways than one on this occasion. The outpouring of love and support for Shilo didn’t end with his mother and brother.

Coach Prime’s mother, Connie, also dropped a heartwarming message after seeing his grandson score a touchdown and copy her son’s iconic celebration. She posted s snapshot of the video on her Instagram stories and wrote, “Love to see both #21 hit that dance!” while also noting, “Like father, like son.”

Have an interesting take?

So far this season, Shilo has recorded 37 tackles, one fumble recovery, and one pass defended to go along with 9 assist tackles. There is scope for improvement, but he seems to be on the right track and recently received some good news regarding his legal battle.

Shilo Sanders received some positive news in his bankruptcy case

When Shilo was 15 years old, John Darjean, a school security guard, claimed that he was seriously hurt because Shilo allegedly attacked him. The guard said that Shilo hit him with an elbow when he tried to take his phone on the school campus of FOCUS Academies in Dallas. A civil court heard the case and ruled in Darjean’s favor, asking Shilo to pay over $11 million in damages to the school guard.

However, before Darjean could receive the amount due to him, Shilo declared bankruptcy and is now fighting a legal battle. However, according to a report in USA Today, a federal judge did not see conclusive evidence that the Colorado safety should be liable for over $11 million in settlement payouts to John Darjean. Instead, he could face a case regarding his mental state when he assaulted Darjean.

This also means that a subpoena for Shedeur and/or Deion Sanders is no longer likely, given that the focus of the case could shift from the bankruptcy issue.

Even though Shilo’s NFL chances have not been talked about much, if he can keep up the performances on the field and get cleared from his legal troubles, Coach Prime will start dreaming of seeing both of his sons in the NFL soon.
