Is Sherrone Moore the right fit for Michigan, or is it time for a leadership change?

The limelight that Michigan Wolverines enjoyed when Jim Harbaugh was at the helm will remain unbeatable it seems. As soon as Sherrone Moore stepped into Ann Arbor, he had a tough time with the transfer portal. Just when he thought of hitting the SETTLE button, the 2024 kickoff threw him under the bus.

To top Moore’s woes after the Wolverines’ big loss against Washington, here the HC is walking on thin ice and might lose his role anytime soon as per the contract clauses. As soon as the news dropped in, fans let their frustration flow freely at their debut HC.

On October 5, the Wolverines got crumbled by Washington Huskies who came off with flying colors in a 27-17 iconic game. Moore failed to chalk out a game plan for Michigan that would have given them an early start. This turned out to be too costly with the Huskies attacking them vertically as their downfield passing game suffered badly. Just after Michigan’s below-average performance, Ohio State football beat writer Dan Hope dropped a warning for Moore.

“Sherrone Moore’s contract with Michigan, which was finalized last week, allows the university to fire him for cause if he is found to have broken NCAA rules – but only if Michigan did not know about those violations before his contract went into effect,” tweeted Hope.

Well here comes the catch! The contract might have looked in favor of protecting Moore as it stated, “actual knowledge of the facts or alleged facts that are the basis for the violation prior to the execution of this Agreement by all parties.”This notice was handed to the Wolverines on August 25 bringing their attention to the fact that Moore’s name was tangled up in deleted text strings involving the ex-Michigan staffer Connor Stalions. Now that his future in Ann Arbor hangs in the air after getting exposed by Washington, fans including the big-shot analysts had already put Moore on the blacklist.

Sherrone Moore’s lack of identity leaves fans frustrated

To Fox2News analyst Ryan Ermanni, time won’t be able to fix things. Besides the contract hoopla, it’s evident that Moore isn’t ready to fill Harbaugh’s gaps and is still a rookie when it comes to coaching. He thus threw a question for the Wolverines AD Warde Joseph Manuel, “Give Sherrone Moore 2 years, 3 years whatever. He ain’t the guy.  I’m just being honest.  Unacceptable. Get a coach in here that isn’t learning on the job.  We’re Michigan for gods sake. I’m so mad about this. What are we doing here Warde?”

For another analyst Steve, Moore had a lot of time to bolster his ground but was only able to highlight his flaws, “Sherrone Moore era is already in real trouble. Team already has two losses and still has to play Oregon and Ohio State. Half the season has gone by and no identity established, other than second half meltdowns, and QB situation completely mismanaged.”

Harbaugh being the recruitment maestro is missed a little more now that Moore failed to reel in a QB, “Flatly unacceptable that Sherrone Moore didn’t get a QB in the transfer portal this offseason. It’s Week 6 and Michigan is on its third QB of the season — not due to injury. There were reasons why it was difficult but any foresight whatsoever would’ve prevented this situation.”“Reminder again that Sherrone Moore treated everyone like they were crazy when they asked about adding a quarterback this offseason,” Local4News analyst Derick Hutchinson held Moore responsible for pinning all his hopes on the seventh-year Wolverines QB Jack Tuttle.

Another fan too claimed that they had endured enough because of their debut HC and now questions his capability not to use their potential first-rounders to their biggest advantage, “Sherrone Moore has the end of this season and next year to figure it out. If significant changes aren’t made by then, he needs to go. You cannot be this incompetent of a football team with 3 potential first rounders on your roster.” It’s high time for Sherrone Moore to buckle up or get kicked out of the exit door!
