6-2! Alabama Crimson Tide entered their second bye week of the season with two losses. Will it affect their chances in the playoffs? Bama is a big football program; all of us have witnessed the long tradition. However, this season has brought up many new things. The new coach and the new rules! But their drive to win the games remains the same.
A home victory against Missouri must have boosted their confidence. 34-0, the score says it all. They dominated the opponents throughout the game and it also marked their second victory over a top-25 team this season. Dynamics in college football change every week. Paul Finebaum shed light on biases in the college football playoff rankings for Alabama and head coach Kalen DeBoer.
On 6th November, the YouTube channel of ESPN College Football shared a video with the former columnist and TV personality where it was highlighted that Alabama’s reputation might give them an unfair advantage in the eyes of the selection committee: “I think a lot of them because they are Alabama and I think they get a little bit of a helmet kick from who they are but ultimately for Alabama, they don’t have any room for error.” This season wasn’t easy at all for Alabama; they have seen all the good and bad. Head coach DeBoer is trying his best to ignore the criteria and focus on winning back-to-back games. But are they on the right track?

Their next game is going to bring significant challenges as they will face LSU. Finebaum further highlighted the same and added, “I know we can quibble that there’s always a route somehow, but from where I see it, Alabama will be out of the playoffs with a loss Saturday night to LSU.” Will Alabama avoid their third conference loss? Meanwhile, Brian Kelly is eager to capitalize on their home ground and keep their playoff hope alive. Let’s hear what DeBoer has to say about the bye week and their matchup against LSU.

Kalen DeBoer’s reflection and preparations for LSU
While Tide was enjoying their bye week, a lot has changed. Week 10 comes with new dynamics. According to the NCAA’s college rankings issued yesterday, Alabama is not in the top 10 teams. Currently standing with 6-2, DeBoer and his squad need to pull up their socks. However, on 9th November, Alabama will play one of their cricula games this season against LSU, which will make things very clear as the season heats up.

On Monday, DeBoer spoke to the media and reflected on their bye week and coming game. “Had a great bye week. Our guys had a chance to work on the things we felt we needed to work on as a team and get a little healthier. And in a good spot. Got back to work yesterday with a good practice. High energy. Very intentional on what the job is that we’re up against going into LSU. Getting a head start on that, whether it be last week or yesterday. We’ll be back at it tomorrow morning. Got an exciting week preparing for a good football team.”
