“The bigger they are, the harder they fall.” The SEC title came attached with a curse. Georgia won, but at what cost? Carson Beck was injured and the Bulldogs now have to play against one of the strongest defenses in the country. “Organized chaos” is what you’d wanna call Notre Dame’s defensive line. And if you were Kirby Smart, would you have any answer for it? Who’s going to make those deep throws when Carson Beck is going off and prepping for the draft? And who is going to run the football when your receiver core has been so drop-prone? Is this the end of an era for Georgia Bulldogs?
Not yet. There is still hope. “All 12 of those people (OC, DC, and offensive and defensive players) have been asked about Gunner Stockton. All 12 of those people had their own story of ‘I forgot something in the facility, I came back at 10 o’clock at night, Gunner’s in there watching film’,” Graham Coffey informs.
It will, once again, boil down to how well Gunner Stockton manages himself. See, with Beck out, any “sane” fan out there would’ve written off the Bulldogs from the natty run. Like, what is Smart supposed to do without his QB1? Yes, Carson Beck had an “up and down” season but he still got them to the 2nd seed?

And when you take him out of the equation and add the fact that the offense has missed more than 19 drops in the last few games, it raises a concerning problem. When you get down to the nitty-gritty, the Bulldogs have backpedaled in terms of offensive depth.
The same team, which was pulling in an average of 40 PPG, has now dropped to 30. Rank 48th in the entire country. Top 50 doesn’t sound bad, but Georgia used to be the No.5 in terms of total points. This ain’t all.
Bulldogs’ yards per pass and yards per rush this season have been locked at 7.7 and 4.2. This is drastically different from their 2023 season record of 9.4 YPP and 5.3 YPR. Who do you point the gun at? Beck being average mid-season or the wide receiver and running backs being washed up? The once great “offensive monsters” have turned into nothing-burger. So, are the Irish going to slam the final nail in the coffin?
The Fighting Irish on the horizon
This entire season has been nothing but a tape of SEC legends falling into irrelevancy. Bama, Ole Miss, LSU, and even Vols. All out and done for. Georgia and Texas are the only ones remaining, but unfortunately, the Longhorns get the easy way out, and the Dawgs are stuck with the Irish.

Now, if there is one that the ND vs IU game taught us, it’s the fact that Marcus Freeman‘s squad knows how to stop a team. Don’t let that 27-17 score fool you. Throughout the entire first half and the 3rd quarter, the Hoosiers were held to a mere 3 points.
They had 63 rushing yards on the board, and most, if not all, of their drives were either turnovers or failed attempts at “scoring points”. They got 2 touchdowns in, but you can call it mercy points given away by the Irish.
This will be a nightmare for Kirby Smart. The run game has been working out for the Dawgs in the last few games, and even though they got the bye week, they don’t have their QB1. No,w Smart could rely on Stockton’s legs and run the football, but how far?
