Is the Deion Sanders era over? Last game of the season, and the Buffs were looking like a fly caught in the spider web. See, we warned y’all. BYU didn’t just magically get 20 interceptions in their regular season. The Cougars are massive when it comes to defense and god dam- they proved it last day. Now that 22-point loss has to sting. The entire “Let’s make them pay” was a big bag of nothing-burger. And as history has been the witness, after every big downfall, comes a big exodus.
H-ll Alabama lost 14 players to the transfer portal after those shocking losses to Oklahoma, Tennessee, and even Vanderbilt. Now, it’s Deion’s turn to feel the heat after that Alamo Bowl defeat. And while Coach Prime did redeem the Colorado name with a 9-win season, he is still going to lose out on some important people…
…Wait a minute, is it the offensive line coach? Ah, then Buffs Nation is fine!! Back on X, Matt Zenitz pointed out, “Mississippi State is hiring Colorado offensive line coach Phil Loadholt.” Yeah, the same offensive line that is comparable to soggy bread. Good for MS State. May the Bulldogs make better use of Phil Loadholt than Coach Prime could.

Mississippi State is hiring Colorado offensive line coach Phil Loadholt, sources tell @ScoutSteveR and me for @CBSSports/@247Sports.
Before Colorado, the ex-Oklahoma and NFL offensive lineman was on staff at Oklahoma and Ole Miss, where he worked with Jeff Lebby.… https://t.co/OheRuqEDVC pic.twitter.com/lEcuLmOfFX

Phil Loadholt’s career has come full circle. After spending time with the Oklahoma Sooners, he’s reuniting with Jeff Lebby. The two have a history, working together at UCF and Ole Miss before Loadholt joined the Sooners’ staff in 2022. After just a year with Deion Sanders in the Big 12, Loadholt is heading back to the SEC, taking over as Mississippi State’s O-line coach, replacing Cody Kennedy.
With MSU coming off a rough 2-10 season, it’s clear Lebby and his crew are looking for a shake-up. But is Loadholt worth the grab? Judging by Colorado’s record under Deion, it’s not exactly a glowing endorsement. While Deion Sanders pulled 6 massive offensive linemen from the portal (including Jordan Seaton), how well have they been used?
Shedeur Sanders has been sacked 42 times by the end of the season. The O-line was already on the 120th rank in the FBS because they allowed 7 sacks in 2 games early into the season. Every year it is the same problem
Last time Shedeur was the laughing stock as the “most sacked QB.” If the Bulldogs want someone as average as Phil, then Buffs fans should be happy for them. If the case was a bit different, where Shedeur was getting more than enough protection and QB pressure rate and sacks were low, then maybe this would’ve been a big loss for Coach Prime.
It is about time Deion gets a better offensive line coach. However, the exodus isn’t exactly over. While not a lot of people will miss Phil, they will definitely miss the guy who switched up the entire EDGE depth.
Vincent Dancy is out

Okay, kudos, Bulldogs; you got a good pick. Every Buffs fan thanks Robert Livingstone for changing up the Buffs’ defensive game. See, they survived the 9 wins because the D-line has been nothing but exceptional. However, fans often skip out on Vincent Dancy.
Dancey joined the Buffs as a defensive analyst and then became the EDGE coach. And as per Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports, even Dancy is heading to Jeff Lebby’s team. Looks like Lebby too wants a turnaround season just like Deion, going from 4 wins to 9.
The Buffs racked up 39 sacks this year, probably the most in the Big 12, thanks to Dancy. If he goes, then yeah, the defense is going to face a lot of problems.

For now, Deion has to first get a proper OL coach. Now that Shedeur and Travis Hunter are leaving, it’s about time Coach Prime gives the coaching staff a much-needed makeover.
