Alabama Crimson Tide are again in a rough spot after their embarrassing loss of 35-40 against Vanderbilt last week. Today, Alabama is facing South Carolina and has a neck-to-neck lead of 14-12 in the game. However, before halftime, something miserable happened with Bama’s star quarterback, Jalen Milroe. Let’s see what’s the fuss is all about.
During the game, while receiving the snap from close to the end zone in his own half, Milroe made a rookie mistake. To avoid the sack against Carolina’s hungry pass rusher, Milroe threw the b–l. The refs deemed the play an intentional grounding, and since it occurred in Bama’s end zone, where Jalen was sacked by South Carolina’s defensive end Kyle Kennard, it was a safety, with Carolina getting two points to move the score to 9-14.
Well, Jalen Milroe broke Alabam’s seven-year-long record. An insider confirmed the news on X, saying, “That Jalen Milroe safety was the first Alabama has allowed since 2017 when Texas A&M blocked a punt out of the end zone.” That could have been it for the Bama QB. However, his horrible second quarter saw another bad play. With 11 seconds on the clock, Bama snapped the b–l from around 30 yards in their own half. Milroe was possibly looking for a first down to extend the drive and move it closer to a field goal position.

However, his throw was intercepted, and Carolina got into a field goal position with the turnover. The result? We ended the half at 12-14. The less said, the better about how Carolina added the first 7 points to the scorecard. A 4 and 9, and the ghost of the last two weeks returned again to knock at Kalen DeBoer’s door. Rather than getting a favorable position for its offense, Bama’s defense allowed a 36-yard pass. Well, this is not the first time Bama is struggling to hold the football longer.
Is Alabama repeating the same mistakes?

Well, Alabama’s struggling defense was quite visible in their last game against the Vanderbilt Commodores. There were no sacks for big takeaways from their last game. Vandy had a conversion rate of 67% on third downs and failed their only fourth down attempt. Now you can see where things went wrong. Vanderbilt utilized their running game to exhaust the Alabama defense, resulting in 166 yards on 54 carries and two touchdowns.
Even Bama’s defensive coach Kane Wommack addressed the same thing by comparing their past games, saying, “You look at third-down defense this past week and fourth-down defense in the second half against Georgia, not to the standard.” Let’s see if Alabama can step up their defense and secure a win against South Carolina this time, as this game is crucial for them.`
