Well, there has been a lot of debate over Nick Saban’s era of coaching, where he took Bama through the national championship titles, and coming to this year, their new head coach Kalen DeBoer is getting trolled for not being able to keep a consistent performance this season. However, analyst Josh Pate has finally put an end to this never-ending debate.
Today CFB Sports took to their official Instagram account to share analyst Josh Pate’s opinion on the Bama fans’s loyalty over different coaching eras, saying, “Those who are 30 or younger, you are a trust fund fan.” —@latekickjosh on Alabama fans’ current mood 🗣️” Not only did Josh support Kalen DeBoer but also kept his strong take on fans diplomacy and being “moody” in making their judgement.

For Alabama fans, it has always been about what they want to perceive, not what is actually true. Pate subtly brought that to light, saying the fans who are older than 35 have seen a lot of scarcity of wins as loyal supporters, and now it’s hard for them to keep an open mind. But the ones who are 30 and below know exactly what a program looks like in its transition period.

Josh Pate even supported Kalen DeBoer by mentioning that he was the perfect replacement for Nick Saban. Well, you can’t ignore what he did for Washington and Sioux Falls, and even this season the team is standing on a 6-2 win-loss streak. He did his part well, even after major setbacks. Pate’s words finally gave the respect to DeBoer that he deserves. Even fans supported his notion by stating facts for once.
Fans supporting Josh Pate’s notion
Josh Pate has finally given a different perspective to Bama fans. Pate not only expressed a strong opinion on trolls criticizing Kalen DeBoer’s leadership but also pointed out that this is not the first time a team has faced challenges during a transition. An IG user commented on the post supporting Josh, “Dude’s not wrong. Tommy Tuberville’s Auburn teams beat Bama six times in a row from 2002 to 2007 in the wake of Bama being put on probation (Phillip Fulmer helped facilitate that). Bama fans who didn’t live through that and the coaching carousel era before Saban can stop the bellyaching and take a seat. The sky isn’t falling.” The fan brought up a difficult period for Alabama when they faced recruiting scandals, as emphasized by former Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer. So if the fans can make peace with that, then there is no reason left to troll Kalen DeBoer.

Nick Saban’s achievements in leading Bama to new heights often outshine the efforts of other head coaches for the team. In the year 2003, when Alabama was dealing with the termination of head coach Mike Price because of his off-field actions, it was Mike Shula who held them intact. “26 years old, and I’d sit at the TV with my grandfather locked in on the game the same way I am now when I was less than 10 years old. I remember the Shula era like it happened yesterday.” This fan’s nostalgic comment gave an apt response to the doubts rising about DeBoer’s coaching techniques. Another fan added to it, saying, “Same here, bro, same. I’m 26 and I’ve seen some diabolical stuff during the Shula era.”
Unfortunately, it was one of the worst years for Alabama, as the team lost every game and ended with a 0-6 score that season. Despite Shula’s efforts to turn things around with three consecutive wins the following year, the team was unable to secure a victory due to persistent injuries. Well, Nick Saban’s era will always be a benchmark for comparison. Winning seven championships with a program is not a small thing, but if this becomes a reason to throw shade at other coaches, it will only fail us as fans. “This is spot on!!! Thank you, Josh. I’m 51, and I have lived through the famine years of too many coaches who shall remain nameless. “We haven’t won a Natty the last 4 years under Saban. These are new times, and the Saban era is gone. Bama will be alright,” they said. Alabama is Bowl-eligible; what else is needed? It’s not like the team has not lost any game ever before. However, it looks like Josh Pate should have done this when Bama lost their first game in the season this year, but it’s better late than never,
