We’re almost there. Just a few more weeks, and it’s going to the post-season. Conference-championship games and playoffs. While a lot of SEC teams are in the hunt for both, one team in particular has improved its chances in recent weeks. See, life under a new head coach post the GOAT leaving you was always going to be tough. However, Alabama fans didn’t know that the challenges would include a loss to unranked Vanderbilt, followed by another loss to their rivals in Tennessee. However, since then, Kalen DeBoer has brought the team back on track with impressive victories against Missouri, LSU and Mercer. Now, with a few weeks before the regular season ends, Bama’s rivals are faltering. Could that mean a pathway to the championship game?
Alabama, one of the SEC teams with two losses, was positioned at number 11 on Tuesday (November 12) in the committee’s rankings. As of now, the probability of this squad becoming an SEC title contender seems easier, according to Nick Kelly. He posted a picture of season-ending rivalry games with the caption, “Actually, I think Vandy beating Tennessee would only be required (and not Oklahoma beating LSU) if Missouri lost twice, for Bama to still make SECCG.”

It seems likely that Alabama will qualify for the SEC championship game if Missouri loses twice and Tennessee loses against Vanderbilt. It all hinges on Alabama winning their upcoming games, though. In addition, Georgia may find it challenging if they lose even one of their next two games, while LSU, having already dropped four games, will not be able to make it to the SEC championship game. As you can see, Bama has an easy way.

The issue still stands, though, whether Alabama can maintain its winning streak under Kalen DeBoer and follow the straightforward route of an SEC contender. Let’s address it together.
Alabama’s picture under Kalen DeBoer
In his post-game remarks after the big win against Mercer, Kalen DeBoer remarked, “Good to get a win.” The Crimson Tide defeated Mercer 52–7, demonstrating their supremacy in what was Kalen DeBoer and Alabama’s second-to-last home game of the season. All of Alabama’s positions were highlighted in this comprehensive game, including backups who saw action following the Tide’s commanding 38–7 halftime advantage. Jalen Milroe, the star quarterback, ran for 43 yards on six carries for a touchdown and completed 11 of 16 throws for 186 yards.

Is Alabama's path to the SEC championship too easy, or are they truly back on track?
Have an interesting take?
Although Alabama has been among the best teams in recent years, it should not be forgotten that this is the same group that faced a significant predicament when Saban announced his retirement in January 2024.
However, given that Kalen DeBoer is consistently guiding the team with an 8-2 record in spite of the initial despair, this shows that he is a capable and powerful leader. Alabama has two more games to go. Enjoying the glory of their CFP eligibility, they will travel to play Oklahoma and finish the regular season with a home Iron Bowl matchup versus Auburn. Let’s wait and watch.
