Did LSU's live tiger tradition backfire, or is it an essential part of their identity?

Louisiana governor Jeff Landry did not shy out, saying, “I think to bring our mascot back onto the field is an unbelievable opportunity.” He announced he would bring a live tiger to LSU’s game against Alabama. Even after 7,000 people petitioned to stop the officials from bringing a tiger on the sidelines in front of over 100,000 people, Brian Kelly didn’t listen to any of them. Did it help them lose a shameful 13-42 game to No. 11 Alabama on Saturday?

Even the man who was on Could Nine by continuing LSU’s tradition to bring a live Tiger, Jeff Landry, now put it on Brian Kelly. He did not mince his words, calling out Kelly after an embarrassing loss. “Our Tiger, our live Tiger, unfortunately, was the only tiger who showed up Saturday. I’m sorry,” Landry said, speaking to the crowd at a ‘politics with a punch’ event.

The fans even lost their calm in the middle of the game. When a facemask call during the third quarter went against LSU’s defense, the Tigers’ fans started throwing debris on the field. The game needed to take a short break to clear the water bottles and all kinds of things from the field. “Look, if I was in the stands, I wouldn’t be happy.” These were LSU head coach Brian Kelly’s words after losing to Alabama. Now let’s see if Kelly answers something to Jeff Landry as well, who didn’t stop by criticizing Kelly and his boys but supported his decision to bring the tiger later in his speech.

“I’m going to tell you something; this is about tradition, and the thing about tradition is about respecting those who came before you. I had more people come up to me, and they remembered Mike the Tiger more than some of the great plays in Tiger Stadium. And they grew up as children seeing this. It’s about tradition,” Jeff Landry said afterward.

Well, God knows what happens after hearing from him. It was already chaos all around the place when people saw a tiger in the cage before LSU and Alabama’s game. Now many celebrities and tiger rescuers are also raising voices against Brina Kelly and the governor’s move to have Mike for the upcoming games as well. Only the coming days can tell what happens next in this ongoing story. Catch us later to learn all the new updates on it.
