Can Tyler Brown's return truly lead the CU Buffs to glory, or is it just wishful thinking?

The Roc is back! And what happens when a valuable offensive weapon finally gets the chance after being unable to play because of no fault of his? He’s going to be on fire! Tyler Brown will play his heart out this year to compensate for last season’s snub. The 6’3″, 310-pounder followed Deion Sanders to Colorado from Jackson State after the 2022 season as a second-time transfer after Louisiana.

Previously, the NCAA rule necessitated that second-time transfers get a waiver for game eligibility. Although it’s no longer a functional rule, Brown had to pay the price for it last season when his waiver was denied in August before the kickoff. Still, he focused on his academia, earning appreciation from Deion Sanders. But now he’s all ready and pumped up for the season, and it’s not surprising.

An X post on August 26 quotes Tyler Brown’s conversation with BuffZone. The OL prodigy expressed his enthusiasm for the season ahead. After weathering “one of the hardest things” he had to endure last season, he said, “I’m so fired up. I’m so ready to go. I’m overwhelmed with just so many positive emotions.”

Nicknamed “Roc” by head coach Deion Sanders, Tyler Brown is optimistic that the Buffs will be a game-changer this season, especially in their offense. This season, Sanders revamped the O-line by bringing in nine OL transfers, and Brown will serve as a valuable asset, having played both guard positions this offseason. He promised, “I’m not gonna disappoint. The offensive line we’re not going to disappoint. We’re gonna go out there, we’re gonna dominate, and have fun while we do it.” Brown, who may be the starting right tackle, has been lauded by several Buffs coaches before his debut games in Colorado.

It didn’t take long for the new CU O-line coach, Phil Loadholt, to notice Tyler Brown’s talent. He lauded the offensive weapon’s strength and versatility, saying, “Roc’s been great… Everyone knows how strong he is physically and then mentally, he’s always there for me. You can count on him. No matter what position; you throw him at any position, he’ll adapt and adjust.”

Have an interesting take?

As for Deion Sanders, Tyler Brown is “one of his favorite” players and an “interesting young man” since his transfer to JSU from Louisiana. And the commitment that he has for his Colorado teammates is apparent in his statement, “I just try to get better for the guys next to me. I don’t ever want to let them down.” Brown will show the world how much Colorado missed in his absence as the Buffs amp up for their season opener against FCS powerhouse North Dakota State on August 29.
