As the final stretch of the 2024 season arrives, it brings more chaos and drama to the surface. While the top three teams that are riding high on the list are Ohio State, Indiana, and Penn State. All three of these teams are also enjoying the same 10-1 record entering last week. However, what makes it even trickier is that Indiana’s only loss was against OSU. With that, even after crushing major teams in the league, the Hoosiers and Curt Cignetti are still a step away from securing a playoff spot. Meanwhile, Adam Breneman and Jake Bu-t have their say on it.
While chatting with college football analysts, Jake and Adam Breneman revealed their take on Indiana’s playoff chances. Breneman didn’t mince his words, saying, “Indiana is in the playoff. I don’t see if they take care of business this weekend. Indiana is firmly in the playoffs, especially with how much Indiana has dominated every team they played. That’s not Ohio State. I mean, the Michigan Game was close, obviously, but, man, they dominated everybody.”

Adam Breneman clearly highlighted that whether Indiana wins their upcoming game against Purdue or not, they’re going to be in the playoffs. Like seriously, all these claims about their easy schedule and stuff seem nothing in front of the wins they have secured. They bit last year’s national champions, the Michigan Wolverines, as well.
Adding volume to the analyst’s words, we all know the current committee, as they focus more on the wins than the strength of the schedule, as many experts have been saying out loud. So it’s pretty obvious to see them among the top 12 teams. Moving forward, Breneman also raised a question for all those teams that also faced similar losses, the way Indiana lost to Ohio State.

Breneman: ‘Can’t question Indiana’s loss to OSU’
Breneman started by recalling the major SEC teams that also faced defeats to even unranked opponents. “Okay? Indiana lost to Ohio State. What happened when Georgia played Ole Miss? What happened when Alabama played Vandy? Like, listen, no team is without flaws this year. No one’s beating Ohio State on their best day, just quite simply. And then I think for Indiana, they benefited from all the losses of the SEC. So I don’t think it should be up for debate. In my mind, it is a given that Indiana’s in the playoffs at this point. I don’t want to entertain a conversation outside of it.”
Yeah, as Breneman said, when Alabama lost against Vanderbilt, they were thriving with a No. 1 spot on the AP poll rankings and no one in their wildest dreams has ever thought a team like Vanderbilt could pull out a victory against Bama. But still, that happened. In the same way, Ohio State got beaten. Georgia was also beaten mercilessly 10-28 against Ole Miss. So, as they say, college football is unpredictable and anything can happen at this point, but no one takes away the playoff from the Hoosiers.

While all the other buzz about their potential snub from the playoff seems ridiculous, even head coach Curt Cignetti is quite sure about it. Remember when he refused to answer a reporter’s question when he asked about how they see themselves among the 12-team extended playoff bracket? He couldn’t believe someone actually asked him that question. With that, all eyes will be on their upcoming game against Purdue.
