The 27th meeting between Memphis and SMU was a night to remember for those in attendance. The gripping contest required some late free throws from the Mustangs in the end to help determine a winner between these two fighting line-ups. But, that was not the only headline of the game. Eventually, there was a total of 75 combined fouls committed from both sides which happens to be the most in NCAA history. In addition to this, the game also had 10 foul-outs at the end of the night.
Consequently, this breaks the previous record from a game between Oklahoma vs. Kentucky on Nov. 28, 2014. Apparently, that contest collected 70 fouls from both ends. Further, the Mustangs also went past their program’s record of 33 which they committed on Jan. 25, 1997, in a game at TCU.
