However, there did come a moment shortly after that, when coach Geno shaded freshman Ashlynn Shade. It seemed like the freshmen do need to earn the level of a well-performing player if they wish to get a good pat from coach.

This season, she has been averaging 9.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, while shooting with the field goal percentage of 53.8%. It is her second year at UConn as she committed to the University in January 2022.

Also, she was ranked the #5 recruit in the Class of 2023 by ESPN. Her presence on the Huskies’ roster has been impactful. Being a versatile player, not only does she move to the top of the 3-point line just to get an open shot but also moves into her teammate’s line of vision.

Talking about the top performers on UConn’s roster, Paige Bueckers is one of the top 25 players in college women’s basketball. This season, she has been averaging 19.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Moreover, she has been shooting with a field goal percentage of 53.9%.

As for Aaliyah Edwards, she has been averaging 16.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, while shooting with a field goal percentage of 58.2% per game. Also, in the last 6 games this season, Edwards recorded her 5th double-double in the winning matchup against Marquette. She scored 19 points and 12 rebounds in the game. Moreover, she is being projected as a first-round pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
