MiLaysia Fulwiley turned out to be an X factor in boosting South Carolina’s chances to get a championship trophy this year. However, she is providing more benefits to the Gamecocks’ home through her recently publicized girlfriend JaMeesia Ford. While Fulwiley is on her way to creating a legacy of her own on the basketball court, Ford is already doing so on the track.
The track sensation recently also shared an honor with Dawn Staley’s prodigy with the Freshman of the Year title. However, her list of accolades goes much before this timeline.

JaMeesia Ford is making her name in the world of track and field at the speed of light. The Fayetteville, NC, native, was born on January 26, 2005, and has been around the tracking field since she was just 9 years old. Hailing from the Jack Britt High School, she amassed huge accolades. These included 24 gold, 7 silver, 6 bronze, and 2 copper medals in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and the 4x 400m relay races.
Apart from this treasure, North Carolina’s wonder also holds a couple of records. As an American citizen, she holds a record for over 200 meters under-20 indoors. Adding more dazzling accolade to her already glimmering resume is her world record for 300 meters in the under-20 category. She also has a gold medal for the 2023 Pan American U-20 4x 400 relay Championship held in Mayaguez.
Choosing South Carolina to represent in her collegiate career, Ford brought several features to the track. In indoor, she holds personal bests of 55m (7.07), 200m (23.58) and 300m (40.11). She also has outdoor personal bests of 100m (11.34), 200m (23.06), 400m (51.77), 800m (2:28.40) and the 1600m (6:39.86). Many also considered Ford in the top ten must-watch track and field athletes. Consequently, she became the NCAA Indoor Champion in Boston, Massachusetts. The 19-year-old phenomenon completed her final 200 m race in 22.34 seconds only.
Certainly, MiLaysia Fuliwiley has won on this end as well after winning the NCAA championship for her WBB program under Dawn Staley. But what title does the hooper share with her sprinter girlfriend?
MiLaysia Fulwiley shared the freshman honor with her girlfriend
The two athletes have made quite a resonating impact on their respective sports over this year. Where Ford came with some strong skills, Fulwiley too blossomed further under Dawn Staley. So much so that the SEC tournament MVP and the NCAA DI women’s basketball champion Fulwiley also made the SEC All-Freshman Team. She averaged 11.7 points split between 43, 34, and 78. She also contributed 2.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.7 steals in her first year of being a Gamecock.
The 5-ft-10 hooper recently shared her elation for matching her girlfriend Ford for the same honor. The track and field athlete also became the SEC Freshman of the Year, owing to her tremendous performances throughout the season. The news broke out with the official page of Women’s Hoops Network. The post was captioned, “MiLaysia Fulwiley and her girlfriend Jameesia Ford both won Freshman Of The Year at the Gamecock Gala! Jameesia is a track standout for the Gamecocks. Love this for them!”

When the two young athletes were asked during the Gamecock Gala about who was going to win, they had a cheesy but cute answer. While Ford quipped, “either of us“, Fulwiley said, “One of us for sure.” After the vote of confidence that both the ladies put in each other, they both chirped, “We’re both good. If either of us wins, it’s a W for both of us.” Looks like they both manifested a win, and so they got it.
But this is not the place that Fulwiley is winning. The land of NIL is also her strong suit and she is playing all the cards right.

The SEC MVP has joined hands with some powerful names in the business industry. Hence, there is no surprise that her net worth has already reached a sky-high $100,000 in just one year. Some of the people she works around also enlist Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors phenom signed Fulwiley on March 15, 2024. This was for his brand with Under Armor named SC-30. The NIL deal marked the NCAA champion as the first collegiate athlete to be with the brand.

She also has a garlic butter sauce recipe product line with local seafood restaurant Mr. Seafood. Further, the radiant star also joined hands with the energy drink mogul Red Bull earlier this year. This was all before she even grabbed the NCAA Championship trophy by winning over ‘the generational talent’ of Caitlin Clark.
The two are clearly already inking their name in gold at the South Carolina University. While not much is known about their relationship and how long it has been for the two seeing each other, looks like they share many common interests to keep the energy up. One being sports and another being the urge to win. It will definitely be an interesting journey to see how these two love birds develop their relationship as a power couple along with their numbers.
