UConn is pushing its way into the Big Dance finale once again and their freshman star is one of the reasons for their wins. Standing at a frame of 6-ft-6, Stephon Castle is becoming the next offensive battery for the Huskies. However, his dominant Final Four takeover with an early 8 points against the Alabama Crimson Tide has all the fans swirling.

Statistically speaking, the 19-year-old has averaged 9.7 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists per game in the last four March Madness meets. Moreover, during the entire season, he has been in the starting lineup for 28 of 32 games, making him one of the very few freshmen who are regular starters. Additionally, he rose up with three games of 20+ points in the 2023-24 season.

Further, NBA being a league where a team-first mentality is often scouted, Castle’s selfless game can be quite useful. Although the freshman finds himself at the 15th spot on ESPN’s latest NBA mock draft, his continuous exemplary display can make the way for his name in the top 10.

Stephon Castle has fans’ eyes on him

Despite being a 5-star recruit in his class, the freshman did not get many moments to shine on a rather full roster. However, the moments he did get, proved his true potential to the basketball world to behold. Dick Weiss, the Hall of Fame National Sportswriter, talked about how impactful Castle’s performance tonight is on the NBA drafts.

A Husky fan is simply smitten by Castle’s movements and vision on the floor. Certainly, Castle has displayed a good basketball IQ and playmaking skills in this season.

Other fan applauded his shooting skills and defensive abilities. Surely, he did not let Alabama’s Mark Sears move freely on the floor.

Looks like fans were not only clamming up to call Mark Sears a Jalen Brunson clone. Turns out they compared Stephon Castle to the Miami Heat‘s Jimmy Buckets a.k.a. Jimmy Buttler.

An X user went on to call out Pat Adams for a bad first half while cheering on for Castle.

Sean Paul from the Field of 68 also entered the race as he described Castle’s new mask for Bama.
