The Huskies started the game with a lead in the opening four minutes of the first quarter. In a twist of turns, the No. 23 Jordan King of the Marquette attempted a field goal. However, before she could make it to the basket, Paige came her way to block the shot. In a matter of seconds, many in the arena were left astonished and scared as the point guard took a bad fall. Jordan accidentally hit Paige on her left knee through her way. Following this, the Huskies came running to her to comfort her. UConn coach Geno Auriemma and their athletic trainer Janelle Francisco swiftly ran to her.
One could see the crowd and Huskies fans covering their eyes, as they could not even see how badly Paige was hurt. After this, Bueckers took a rest and healed her knee with an ice bag. Later, she also tried to get past Geno in an attempt to check back in and continue her game. But the coach stopped her for some more rest.
Nonetheless, just before half-time was about to end, fans were enthralled to see Paige. She was completely back in the game and giving the Golden Eagles a hard time. Adding to this, she bagged in a half-court buzzer-beater shot for the team at this moment.
