The LSU star popularly known as the Bayou Barbie has broken her silence on the ongoing stereotypes. With her impressive number of followers on social platforms, Angel Reese has a stage to share her views and influence fans. And she’s making the best out of her social stature and sway.
For years, women athletes struggled with a stubborn stereotype that limited their role. That women in sports can’t be girly or express their fashion sense off the court drove a dominant discourse. But this stereotype is now being challenged by the new generation of athletes as they refuse to let others tell them what to do.

Angel Reese has been breaking the internet with her extraordinary basketball skills, but what makes her a unique player is her fashion sense. Her unapologetic attitude has made her one of the most influential players in the world of basketball today.
In a recent interview with Law Roach of Interview Magazine, Reese opened up about her disapproval of the stereotype that women athletes can’t be girly or have a fashion sense: “I love fashion and always wanted to be a model. I’m six foot, three inches, so I could be a model. I love taking pictures. My mom would be like, ‘You taking a hundred pictures just to post three on Instagram?’ That’s just what I do. My grandma taught me, never let nobody mess up your mascara, your nails, your lashes.”
Reese added, “You can be cute and go out there and still ball. So I’m trying to change the stereotype that women in sports can’t be girly and have fashion off the court. I love high fashion, and thrifting is my thing too. And I love you. I love how you put people together, I love everything that you’ve done with Zendaya.”
