At the age of 19, Isobel Borlase is ready to conquer the world of WNBA. ESPN has tipped the Australian as a potential first-round lottery pick. From getting drafted to the WNBA to getting selected for the Olympic squad, 2024 could be a massive year for her. She at times doubts herself, but her family has stood behind her like a rock. They know the trials and tribulations of playing and carrying the expectations of fans worldwide.

Her father, Darryl Borlase, played 246 games in his 14-season-long SANFL career. He was a fan favorite among the Port Adelaide fans. When he was on the sidelines, his team went on to three-peat from 1988 to 1990.

He made a resounding comeback in 1991 and was the team’s leading goalkicker with a tally of 25. In 1992, he was the key to his side’s other premiership, which was his first—later winning again in 1994 and 1996. Daisy was his nickname and was bestowed the responsibilities of a captain in 1998. It was his final league season and ended up winning his 4th title. He was not the only Borlase who was the talk of the town, as his would-be wife was winning medals too.
