The historical anticipation of Caitlin Clark to achieve the leading scorer record was flipped by the dazzling display of the Cornhuskers as they put on a show. The Pinnacle Bank Arena witnessed a turnover game in its history as the nation’s leading scorer was stunned by unranked Nebraska.

It is the third loss for Iowa this season, and it was the first-ever loss for Caitlin Clark against Nebraska in her NCAA history. Despite the disappointment of fans, Caitlin Clark has achieved another milestone in her career.

Heading into the game against Nebraska, only 39 points separated Caitlin Clark from Kelsey Plum’s NCAA record. The whole arena was built in anticipation, as the possibilities for the Iowa Star to beat the record were very high. Unfortunately, it was an awful Sunday, as Caitlin Clark came up with her usual 31-pointer game, and she went on to go scoreless in the fourth quarter for the very first time.

Unfortunately, Caitlin Clark missed her final six shots, which eventually led her to be scoreless. Caitlin is standing on a close horizon with Plum, as her chart reads 3,520, and she needs 8 more points to break Plum’s record of 3,527, which she garnered in her NCAA career with Washington from 2013 to 2017.

Despite the disappointment, Caitlin Clark has unlocked a new milestone as she has 1005 assists. Apart from scoring 31 points, Caitlin Clark finished off with 10 assists and eight rebounds, which led her to surpass the Division One record.

No other Division I women’s player has accomplished the 3,000-point, 1,000-assist feat except for Caitlin Clark. Until the 1982–83 season, assists were not officially counted as an NCAA statistic, so there is no men’s player on record who has reached those milestones. It was during the 1981–82 season that the NCAA began overseeing women’s basketball.

An unfortunate fourth-quarter

When Iowa entered the fourth quarter, it was leading the game with fourteen points, while Caitlin Clark had 31. That is where Nebraska took the lead in their place, as miscommunication between Iowans stopped them from scoring. Huskers outscored Hawkeeyes 27-10, as it was their worst fourth-quarter margin since the implementation in 2015.
