“It’s a way in. It’s an entry-level job,” Connor McCaffery had opined of his new Indiana Pacers job when he was selected as the team assistant in May 2023. McCaffery’s role involved studying the film, helping the team with the scout team, and also providing the coaching staff with anything they needed.
Considering it was an entry-level job, McCaffery seems to have performed his duties well. The Pacers finished sixth in the Eastern Conference and were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the conference Finals.
However, now that the NBA season is over, and the players gear up for the upcoming NCAA basketball season, rumors run among the balling fraternity that Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend would be joining the Buttler Bulldogs as an assistant coach.

Why might Connor McCaffery leave the Indiana Pacers, possibly?
The Bulldogs currently have Thad Matta as the head coach who will be in his third year this season. Joining him in uplifting the Bulldogs is his assistant Greg Oden. If rumors are to be believed then Oden will be resigning from his position although it is still unclear where he will head. And IndyStar reported that McCaffery might fill his place. If that is true the opportunity is a good one for McCaffery.
