In 2018, Sheppard was the first freshman in Division I history to score at least 25 points, achieve seven three-pointers, and only miss one field goal. Since 2011, only one other collegiate player has achieved this stat line when seven assists are included.

Sheppard is a great fit for the 3-and-D lead guard archetype, which is crucial for winning basketball games. Although he is too young to be considered a one-and-done player, he has a good chance of being chosen in the first round.
