The TCU Horned Frogs started their 2023-24 campaign with straight aces by winning 14 matches consecutively. However, unexpected injuries took the team away from this winning streak and they ended up losing 4 matches. To add insult to injury, they had to forefeit two matches last week. Nevertheless, the team came up with strategies and is probably back to continue their winning streak.
The Horned Frogs returned to the hardwood against UCF Knights for a big win. Surprisingly, the roster had more new faces than we may have anticipated. However, one face was not that of a stranger.

TCU Horned Frogs had to go down the road and back to their home after they were not able to bring a complete team to the court. Consequently, the team held some open tryouts on their campus and came back with some decent substitutes. Additionally, one of them is a formidable middle-blocker on TCU’s women’s volleyball team– Sarah Sylvester. To everyone’s surprise, this new member for the remaining 2023-24 season for the TCUs women’s basketball team was not a newbie to play for a crowd and against another college.
Even handling a basketball is nothing new for the Livonia-born Sarah Sylvester. This talented athlete has had a taste of the hardwood during her time at the Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Apparently, during her senior year, Sarah jacked a respectable average of 11.3 points and grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game along with 2.5 blocks. After her high school basketball years, she chose the path of volleyball for herself.

Sarah Sylvester and TCU bring a victory home
After quite a long droop to their winning streak, TCU came back stronger and won against UCF with 66-60 on the board. Fans were amazed to see how flawlessly the walk-in sub –Sarah– worked through the court. Further, Sylvester was so confident on the hardwood that she even attempted a three-pointer just before the end of the third quarter. While she did not make any points, the presence also made itself count. The Horned Frogs forward Aaliyah Roberson led by the most points made with 17 points. Following her was Sydney Harris with 14 points and Una Jovanovic with 11 points.
In total, the TCU roster looked immovable with its healthy roster. Though the new faces could not make points, they helped the team show up. Further, Sarah even got a standing ovation from the crowd, showing how much Horned Frogs fans loved to see their team back in the game. We can only hope they jump right back into their consecutive wins again.
