Rated as a 5-star by Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN, Dybantsa has become the center of attraction for some elite college programs.
This top-ranked high school senior started with over 30 offers from various programs. His options were narrowed down to the Top 7 schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, and North Carolina. A basketball athlete’s wingspan is one of the inherent aesthetics of their sporty personality. At the same time, other aspects include height, weight, vertical reach, and so on. As for the 2025 No.1 ranked player, AJ Dybantsa has a wingspan of 6’11” making him a lethal threat on the front court.
With a towering height of 6’9”, he makes it nearly impossible for her opponents to guard him when he poses a strong offense. Weighing 201 lbs, Dybantsa has a standing reach of 8’10”. Gifted with an extensive length and dynamism, he is an energetic multi-position defender.
His ability to score and transition has rewarded him with the Gatorade Player of the Year after he averaged 19.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game as a freshman at Saint Sebastian’s School. He also led the school to the NEPSAC Class A state championship, however, the team lost the game to Milton Academy by one point.
After his freshman season at the school, he transferred to Prolific Prep, Napa, California. Last summer, he led the AAU team from Boston, the Expressions Elite in the Nike Peach Jam with 25.8 points per game. Then again, it was time for him to move ahead, and now he is playing his last high school season at Utah Prep in Hurricane, Utah.

However, his potential isn’t limited to just state championships and elite youth basketball, but rather something much bigger.
A winner on the international stage
Besides only playing high school basketball, AJ Dybantsa has been to the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship in Merida, Mexico, and the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey and clinched a gold medal in both.
In the U16 tournament, he competed against Puerto Rico, Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, and Canada, averaging 13.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists through 6 games. Whereas, in the U17 tournament, he competed against France, Guinea, China, Philippines, Canada, New Zealand, and Italy, and averaged 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists through 7 games.

These numbers speak volumes of what AJ Dybantsa has to offer when he is representing the country in front of the world. He recently led Utah Prep to the Shanghai Future Star Basketball Championship after the team took down the U18 China National Team with a 95-79.
