The 2020-21 season of NCAA basketball has come to an end. A lot of young players took the country by storm and had some exciting performances throughout the season. And out of the thousands of players, Oklahoma State Cowboys freshman, Cade Cunningham stood out
When he left high school, he had a lot of hype, so all the top colleges were after him. But he chose to sign with Oklahoma State, a team that had not made the NCAA tournament since 2017. Many were surprised with this decision until they found out that he joined because of his older brother.
Cannen Cunningham, his older brother, was the assistant coach with the Cowboys. So Cade wanted to team up with him. And now that Cade is leaving the Cowboys to enter the NBA, older brother Cannen is following him this time. He recently confirmed that he will not be returning as the assistant next season and will instead help to manage his brother’s NBA career.

Looking at Cannen Cunningham’s career so far
Cannen started his career as a center for the SMU Mustangs in 2011-12. He played four seasons with them and came off the bench for most of his career. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports management in 2015, before playing a season abroad in Poland.
Cunningham came back to pursue coaching after just a year and started with coaching at the AAU level. He took over as the head coach at Highland Park Middle School next, where he won multiple district-level titles. He then joined as the head coach at Coram Deo Academy where they won the district title in 2016-17.
Finally in June 2019, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton hired Cannen. A few months later, younger brother Cade committed to the Cowboys, making it a successful and shrewd appointment. And now after helping the team becoming relevant by taking them to the final of the Big 12 conference tournament and the second round of the NCAA tournament, the Cunningham brothers are moving out together.
