Playing for the Cardinals as a small forward, Brink is a rising star in the world of college basketball. She became eligible for the WNBA in 2023. However, after putting a lot of thought into this situation, the WBCA Defensive Player of the Year decided to stay for her senior year with the Cardinals.

In an interview with Alex Simon, she said, “I think I want to stay just because I want to just continue to be a kid. Finish my degree in four years, not rush myself. It’s fun, college is fun. Why not stay?”

The decision of Brink to stay for the 2023-24 season has been proving to be a good decision for the Cardinals because being one of the most crucial players in the team she is leading the Cardinals to one of the best seasons in their history.

After completing her degree and playing her last season with her team, Brink will be appearing for the 2024 WNBA draft alongside some of the best players like Paige Beuckers, Angel Reese, and many more. However, there have been rumors of Brink potentially joining the Golden State Warriors, but nothing can be said for sure just now.

Beyond the basketball court, her decision to complete her degree serves as a testament to where she is looking for personal and athletic growth. Notably, Brink has sent shockwaves in the world with her skills and talents in her journey so far.

A shining star

Born in 2001, Cameron Brink didn’t show any interest in basketball until she was 10. In her high school career, she played basketball for Southridge High School for almost three seasons before transferring to Mountainside High School. As a senior, she averaged 19.7 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per game.

But Brink faced her fair share of challenges when she was sidelined from the games due to an ankle sprain and wasn’t able to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic due to Covid pandemic. However, the basketball community quickly realized her talent, as she received scholarships from several programs. Being a five-star recruit and the number three player in the 2020 class by ESPN, she received offers from Oregon, UConn, and many more. But, in the end, she announced her commitment to Stanford due to its strong academic prowess.

In November 2020, Brink made her college career debut by dropping 17 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in a 108–40 win against the Cal Poly Mustangs. With her exceptional ability to score as a freshman, Brink led the Cardinals to their first championship victory since 1992.
