NILs have become a huge part of the daily motivation for college basketball players. While they have the love for the game and the talents to seek out the best, money is also significant. However, NILs can be variable. And seems like the UCLA men’s basketball team along with their coach is not so happy about their paychecks.
Apparently, the UCLA men’s basketball coach has some words to say about the debate and about why his school is moving to Big Ten in 2024.
UCLA’s coach Mick Cronin points at NIL challenges

There is no doubt that UCLA has not been performing at its best this season. Moreover, the team’s construction is also relying on inexperienced players now. While the initial few years were great for Mick Cronin. He was even awarded the Best Coach of the Year in his first season with the team. However, things are only going down for the team. Recently, a UCLA beat writer for the LA Times asked Cronin if a loss like this makes him question roster construction. To this, he replied, “We did what we could do. Is your question, ‘Did we try to get older transfers?’ Absolutely. So did the Reds, but the Dodgers get them.”
Clearly, Mick Cronin is frustrated with how the team is carving out to be. Moreover, he is being very apparent about the financial status of the school. While UCLA Bruins is still a big brand and everyone talks about them, Cronin’s comments have made quite a stir in the college basketball world.

Moreover, the coach is not so happy about moving to the Big Ten Conference from the Pac-12 Conference. He has blamed the current NIL status at UCLA for this as well.
What does the NIL status at UCLA look like?
UCLA is one of the premier programs in NCAA when it comes to college athletics. But the reducing domination of their teams on the court is a subject of worry. NIL deals are necessary to attract the top prospects to the program. Consequently, the poor condition of the NIL status at UCLA is becoming a barrier for the coaches to bring in players who deliver results. This limitation proves why UCLA Bruins have more inexperienced and young players on their roster that cannot support it to victory.

Nonetheless, Mick Cronin’s comment should be useful enough to get some attention on the current NIL status. The UCLA fans may be disappointed right now but the Bruins are trying their best in the resources available to them. Further, their coach Cronin is an amazing guide on which the team can rely.
