USC just faced defeat at the hands of Washington State Cougars for the first time in 9 years at the Galen Center. The loss is a severe blow to USC’s NCAA chances as they now have lost 8 games so far this season. Moreover, there is a possibility of another setback glooming over their campaign.
While the catalyst behind their impressive defense–Joshua Morgan–was unavailable before the game started, one of their key offensive performers this season–Isaiah Collier–left the court during the contest.

The Trojans were neck-to-neck with the visitors throughout the night responding to everything that was thrown at them. However, with just over 12 minutes to go and the match evenly poised, an unexpected event halted USC’s momentum. Point guard Isaiah Collier had to turn the ball over and in the process was fouled and he had to exit the court. As it turned out, he returned to the sidelines only to be seen with a brace on his right hand along with some ice. Apparently, the 6 ft 5 in guard suffered from a right hand contusion.
Isaiah Collier missed the last 12 minutes and 12 seconds of the game with a right hand contusion. Andy Enfield didn’t have further details on the prognosis.

Following this, head coach Andy Enfield refused to provide further details on the injury. Meanwhile, the diagnosis was confirmed by a USC spokesperson after the game. Earlier, Enfield disclosed that the team’s 6′ 11″ forward Joshua Morgan had to sit out due to an undisclosed illness just 3 hours before tipoff.
The 19-year-old was having a decent outing for the Trojans before he was benched.
How did Collier impacted the game?
Despite the loss, Collier made a valuable contribution at the Galen Center for the Trojans. He had 12 points along with 3 rebounds and 1 assist next to his name. In addition to this, the 2023 Naismith Prep Player of the Year was 5-of-9 in shooting. He combined Boogie Ellis in the first half to give an explosive start to the home team. Further, he kept the Trojans in the hunt for the remainder of the game by swinging the tides in USC’s favor on multiple occasions.
