Selection Sunday might’ve started the much-anticipated thrill of March Madness, but the reigning champions look far from thrilled this time around. Their bracket position lands them in a tough region with at least three more uncompromising opponents. Also, if you are a Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese fan, you will have to choose between the two for this year.

Kim Mulkey has very carefully chosen her Lady Tigers ever since she stepped into LSU in 2021. Her ruthless roster has given her results as well with a championship trophy in 2023. However, looks like it’s the end of the era as the reigning champions have a rocky road ahead of them. Their First-Round game entering into the March Madness is against the Rice Owls.

The opponent will be making their return after 2019 as this year’s Conference tournament champions. While the Owls may have had it easy against their conference opponents, LSU is not going to let them down slowly. Further, they are also going to be clear favorites.

In their second round, LSU will either face the 6-seed Louisville Cardinals or Middle Tennessee. The heat will rise early for the Tigers as they enter the Sweet Sixteen against probable UCLA or Creighton. Both teams have shown their potential this season and can be an early goodbye for LSU.

Who does not remember the iconic 2022-23 NCAA Finals game featuring Iowa and LSU? Well, seems like we will not have to wait that long this time around. If both these teams manage to win their first three games in the tournament, there is a chance of an LSU vs Iowa match in the Elite Eight.

This time around, Caitlin and co. are coming with full fury to grab the National title. However, it is not an easy path for them either. One of the biggest loopholes in Iowa’s offense is the overreliance on Clark. According to their numbers, Clark averages more than double of their second-best performer, Hannah Stuelke, at 31.9 ppg. In order to put their competitive feet on the accelerator and enter the semifinals, the Hawkeyes will need to find their balance as a complete team, just like LSU did.

While everything seems peaceful between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, it will be exciting to see what will transpire as they return to face each other on the hardwood.
