The LSU Tigers started their New Year with a bang. The defending champions further extended their NCAA winning streak by securing a comfortable 92-72 victory over Missouri. However, the matchup between these two sides was not the only contest of the night. Hundreds of fans decided to stand behind the grace and strong woman that head coach Kim Mulkey represents on Thursday night.

Consequently, they showed their love and support in their own way by donning the Kim Mulkey look in LSU’s SEC opener. What was the atmosphere like? Let’s find out!

PMAC glitters like Kim Mulkey

A sold-out Pete Maravich Assembly Center welcomed the reigning national champions in a rather stylish way. LSU began their SEC schedule with a “Dress like Mulkey” night. Apparently, many of Kim Mulkey’s fans showed up for the game dressed like her. Moreover, popular American sports commentator Eric Frede also tried to imitate Mulkey’s style by trying Mike the mascot’s jacket on him. Before the game, many fans went to several area clothing stores such as Aydell Boutique in Livingston Parish to get themselves ready before the game. As per the owner of Aydell Boutique, Payton Courtney, fans requested the famous “Queen of Sparkles” clothing line that Mulkey puts on quite often.

The game also included a competition in which the fans would decide the top three costumes in the building. Following this, the top three would be later called onto the court and the winner would be decided accordingly. Further, the winner of the competition will receive one of Kim Mulkey’s jackets.
