As the NCAA 2023-24 season approaches, exhibition games are in full swing among college teams. In a recent game between LSU and East Texas Baptist, LSU showed why they are the no.1 team in the league with their exceptional basketball prowess. During the game, a moment stood out and caught the eyes of the spectators. And it involved none other than the LSU star, Angel Reese. 

Exhibition games usually take place just before the official NCAA tournaments start, with the purpose of preseason warm-up and to find out where a team might be lacking, so they can improve.

Angel Reese incarnates an NBA legend

With only 3 minutes and 45 seconds of the third quarter left on the clock in the match between LSU and ETBU, the ball was in the possession of Michaela James of the ETBU.  

James, with a few quick dribbles, sprinted towards the basket to make a layup, but little did she know that the one defending her was the LSU star, Angel Reese. As she attempted to take a shot, Reese channeled her inner Hakeem Olajuwon and sent the ball flying with a block. Seeing such a block, the fans jumped from their seats, shocked and filled with excitement as they cheered on the LSU star. 

After the block, showing true sportsmanship, Reese rushed to give her hand to James as she fell. Her actions won the hearts of the spectators and made them think she is a legend in the making.

Notably, the game was a complete blowout as LSU secured the victory one-sided.

The game was a clear message for all the teams competing in the NCAA that LSU would dominate on the court. From the beginning of the match, LSU took control of the game and didn’t let go until the game finished. While the team displayed impressive shooting accuracy, it was their defensive prowess that truly stole the show.

They kept the ETBU to an 18.9 percent shooting and forced 39 turnovers. The 2022-23 NCAA champion team, secured the victory with a final score of 99-26, this devastating loss to the ETBU serves as a reality check for them and they should work on their offensive as well as defense, or else they will be facing an early exit in the tournament.
