Is Juju Watkins the next big thing in American basketball? What do you think?

“Congrats and proud of you!” If someone like LeBron James is saying that about you, you know you are a special talent. Such was the case for the USC sensation JuJu Watkins, who delivered a record-breaking freshman season. Now, she has her eyes set on embracing and conquering the upcoming college basketball challenges. However, with the Olympic fever still intact, hardly anyone would argue that she will be having plans regarding that.

Former IOC president Pierre de Coubertin once said, “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part.” And that’s what the 2024 USBWA National Freshman of the Year is doing right now. Well, obviously she wasn’t a part of the US delegation of 594 athletes at the event, but she decided to make the most of her leisure time roaming around the streets of the City Of Love while cheering for those participating.

She provided proof of that through her official Instagram handle where her one post captioned, “was happy to be in paris 😌,” featuring multiple pictures of her gracing the spectacle with her presence.

Keeping her love for the Olympics in mind, surely she will be thrilled by the fact that her hometown of Los Angeles will be hosting the next edition. And no doubt Watkins will be among the hot favorites to make the roster for the women’s basketball team. 2 months ago, she reflected on it during an interview with the Associated Press.

She said, “Definitely something I’m looking forward to and having the chance to do that in my city would definitely be a dream come true.” In the meantime, Watkins also extended some support to a fellow Trojan on the track & field.

A personal-best time of 52.29 seconds meant that the daughter of former Buffalo Bills safety Henry Jones, Jasmine secured a 4th position in the 400-meter hurdles Finals. Nonetheless, there was no shortage of support for her. Among the high-profile names was the 2024 Best Breakthrough Athlete by ESPY JuJu Watkins. She reacted to Jones making it to the Finals by posting “Yessss” in one of her Instagram stories.

In addition to this, the 19-year-old was present in the stands to cheer for the Pan American U20 Championships gold medalist. Furthermore, Jones is also included among the top seven on the Trojans’ all-time list in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.
