The formidable point guard of the UConn Huskies, Paige Beuckers recently addressed the media to talk about UConn’s progress this season. One of the reporters asked her what advice she had given Azzi about recovering from her injury. To which Paige responded, “The first couple of weeks are emotional. Just try to process it, try to come to terms with it. It’s been maybe almost a week. Now she’s more of an in attack mode. She’s coming to terms with it and kind of embraces it. The work it’s gonna take, the grind it’s gonna take. We are just trying to be there every step of the way.”
Azzi Fudd has suffered from knee injuries before as well. The five-star recruit in the class of 2021 was forced to miss out on 11 games during her freshman campaign. Moreover, she missed 22 games as a sophomore when her teammate took an ugly fall on her right knee which resulted in ACL and MCL tears. Providing updates on Azzi, Paige further added, “She’s been through it before. Most recently, we just went through it last year. We’re just trying to be there, mentally and physically. Probably try and give her some tips whenever she has questions. We’re just being there to support.”
