Recovering from her knee injury, Paige Bueckers might be returning soon to the court but will her return take UConn Huskies where to need to be? The team has suffered a loss against Notre Dame just last month and they need all the effort they can gather before they face the challenging January schedule. Ellen Duncan recently shared her thoughts on the Big East powerhouse and Paige Bueckers. Let’s see what the sportscaster has to say about their chances at a possible championship.

Despite Bueckers’ injury, Duncan sees Bueckers as someone who can take Huskies to new heights this season. She dismissed all Bueckers-doubters in a recent statement. “the bar is so high that a woman that’s literally on the precipice of history, about to become the fastest player in UConn history to hit 2000 points. She would break Maya Moore’s record. And we’re over here saying she’s in a slump?”, said Duncan. We must note that a similar knee injury hurdled her way back in 2021  but she managed to take UConn to the national championship game, delivering a “superhuman” performance with 28 points.

“She is the engine that drives the UConn bus. She is the straw that stirs the drink.. if Paige Becker’s isn’t page Bueckers’ UConn can’t be UConn. It’s simple as that.” Added Duncan as she expanded on her expectations on the UConn’s standout guard. Buecker has been averaging about 20 points a a game getting UConn back-to-back wins except the narrow loss against USC and the loss against Hannah Hidalgo’s Notre Dame.

However, to get what UConn really needs this season, Duncan agrees that Bueckers must make sure to avoid further injuries. “what she needs to do, pray to who she prays to burn the sage. Do whatever you gotta do, but you have to stay healthy.”, said Duncan while making the point that UConn might face a difficult season in the absence of Buecker.

Given that coach Geno Auriemma has said that Paige is soon to return back on the court, fans are left wondering where this might take UConn. Does the current UConn roster has what it takes to face teams like Notre Dame and USC? Let’s see what they have waiting for them

UConn’s vulnerabilities were on wide display when Notre Dame’s physicality was something the Huskies had yet to see this year. The AC powerhouse’s non-stop aggression was too much to handle but Bueckers fought hard with 25 points. Some would argue that a 79-68 loss early in the season has put them in the pressure that’s keeping them upwards till now.

Fans can’t wait to see how soon can Bueckers return to their beloved team as Auriemma has hinted at a quick comeback. The season ahead is challenging and UConn has been proving its mettle so far. The Huskies have already beaten Georgetown once but let’s see how they do in the rematch this Sunday!
