On Monday, Canadian rapper Drake triumphantly made his way back to Austin for the first time since his unforgettable headlining performances at the 2015 Austin City Limits Music Festival. The It’s All A Blur tour delivered a captivating performance that lasted more than two hours and twenty minutes, living up to its name. The night’s lengthy setlist included over 40 songs, tourmate 21 Savage’s solo performance, and an unexpected cameo of an NBA star.

However, apart from the Moody Center, the Texas Longhorns were another stop on Drizzy’s tour, exciting young basketball fans.

Drake surprises the Texas Longhorns

Over the past few weeks, the It’s All A Blur tour of Drake has been lighting up the stage with some jaw-dropping guest appearances. To the joy of the audience, this trend appears to be the tour’s new standard. The much-anticipated tour has gained even more excitement and celebrity as a result of the unexpected appearances.

It should come as no surprise that NBA star Kevin Durant was among the recent notable surprise guests considering his longstanding friendship with Drake and their support for one another. However, Drake’s surprises weren’t limited to the stage. The $250 million-worth rapper also stopped by the Texas Longhorns to pay them a surprise visit.

Drake walked into the locker room of the Texas Longhorn’s Women’s Basketball team. Taken aback by the rappers’ visit, the locker room lit up with happy squeals. Drake greeted each player by shaking their hands.

Notably, this isn’t his first time visiting the team. The Canadian rapper charmed fans and sparked a frenzy at the University of Texas in Austin during a surprise pre-concert visit to the Lone Star State in July 2016.

Drake spent some time touring the state’s capital when he was in Texas for his performance at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The rapper stopped by the university’s basketball courts while he was at the University of Texas.

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant, who was also spotted alongside Drake on his tour also paid a visit to the Longhorns.

Kevin Durant visits his alma mater

On September 13, 2023, Kevin Durant paid a surprise visit to the University of Texas. Durant attended the Texas Longhorns men’s team’s practice after attending the Drake concert in Austin the day before. He also connected with the Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian, making it a memorable day for Longhorns fans all throughout the country.

Durant has a strong connection with the University of Texas as he played for the team during his lone college season in 2006–2007. He was a dominant force in college basketball, winning the coveted Wooden Award and numerous other honors while averaging a staggering 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. It was his outstanding college career at Texas that led to his second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.
