The main event at Duke, Cooper Flagg is having an unbelievable season as a freshman. The Blue Devils guard is averaging 19.5 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game on 48.6% field goal shooting, making him analysts’ favorite to be the first pick in the upcoming NBA draft. But not everyone is sold on his NBA potential!
Flagg has been a standout for the Duke team, which is considered one of the favorites to win the NCAA tournament, alongside Johni Broome’s Auburn Tigers. Both Broome and Flagg have been central to the National Player of the Year discussions as well.
However, Mark Titus believes NBA teams might be cooling off on him a bit. Despite his dominant season, whispers suggest that some franchises aren’t as convinced about his transition to the next level.

Speaking in the Mark Titus Show, he said, “As a freshman basketball player Cooper Flagg is the best the Duke have ever had on both ends of the floor.” This is huge praise given Duke has had freshmen like Kyrie Irving and Zion Williamson. He continues, ” It wouldn’t surprise me if NBA people have kind of cooled off on him a little bit which doesn’t make any sense, I do think that there’s this belief that maybe he’s not the draft prospect.”
Titus however does reiterate the fact that he still sees him as the number one pick in the upcoming draft but he gives his reasons as to why he thinks that the interest in Flagg has cooled off a bit. He says, “I don’t know if NBA people see him as the best player on a championship team anymore.”
He takes it a step further, suggesting that if a franchise wants to compete for the championship, Flagg cannot be the only standalone superstar they build around. Instead, Titus argues that a team would need to pair him with a top-five NBA player to truly be considered as a contender, raising questions about whether Flagg can carry a team to the next level.

Being the youngest ever chosen for the USA Select Team is no small feat. It proves teams believe in him. Now, it’s all about whether he can turn that potential into NBA greatness!
For now, Cooper Flagg is committed to helping Duke win the NCAA championship for the first time since 2015! Let’s see who Jon Scheyer’s men face next in their bid to win the NCAA tournament!

In a rare game where Cooper Flagg didn’t steal the spotlight, Tyrese Proctor took charge with 16 points, leading the Blue Devils to a dominant 83-54 victory over Syracuse. With this win the Blue Devils have increased their ACC record to an unbeatable 12-0 and the overall record to 20-2.

Chase Hunter will be a player to watch out for as the senior Clemson guard is averaging 17.7 points per game this season and can hurt you if you underestimate him. Ace Buckner and Dallas Thomas have already been ruled out for the season for the tigers and they will also be without the services of freshman guard Del Jones.
For Duke, Mason Giles has been upgraded to game-time decision after missing the last game against Syracuse. Jon Scheyer offered a reassuring update on his injury status following the win. He said, “Look, Mason is as tough as it gets, as competitive as it gets.” ” For him not to be on this trip, he’s really sick. Otherwise, he’d be here. He was trying to get on the plane and we told him, ‘there’s no way.”
