Marshall divulged such hidden chapters from his life to Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson on Saturday in an ES Fancast episode. ES Fancast is a presentation of Essentially Sports that provides interviews and many media interactions with its followers. The thought behind leaving football behind is what made fans go ga-ga over his understanding of the game.
“I just felt like I was too tall. You know that there are not as many 7 footers out there in the football field… I had to kind of make the decision early on and in middle school If you wanna play football, you gotta play football. Or play basketball, play basketball. Cause you just don’t wanna keep taking time off for one or the other… You can’t focus on one so you kind of be average at both. I felt like basketball might have been an easier way to go cause you know football, they won’t do more but trying to top block you and take your knees out. At that point you gotta be out of play anyday,” Marshall exclaimed.
Marshall seems to have been crafted for the basketball world since he has made waves in the NCAA circuit. He was drafted by Missouri in August, 2023. He had a flurry of colleges he could choose from. With a 7-foot height and 300 lbs weight, he is one of the most physically dominant players.
He had also visited Auburn and Ole Miss and had offers from Cincinnati and Georgetown. This only establishes his dominance at the college basketball level much before he entered the NCAA circuit.
