In 1992, a first-ever basketball team was formed that had active professional players from the NBA who represented the United States in the Olympics. It was nicknamed the ‘Dream Team’ and was said to be the greatest team ever formed. Chuck Daly was appointed as the head coach with Coach K and Lenny Wilkens as the assistant coaches of the Dream Team.
In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Coach K revealed an interaction between Michael Jordan and him, in which Coach K at first thought he was coming up to him to give him a hard time, he said, “I thought he was coming over to give me a hard time because he’s from North Carolina and I’m from Duke.”
But to his surprise, Jordan asked his help to improve his offense after their first practice session, he said, “I actually think it was his way of making me feel comfortable.” This moment shared by Coach K and Jordan became one of the great moments in Coach K’s life.
