In their last two games that Lady Tigers played against Auburn and Ole Miss, Angel Reese happened to have twisted her ankle in both. Her participation against Dawn Staley’s defiant girls was highly uncertain. But Bayou Barbie put her healing process on backburner and showed up in the game against Gamecocks. But a certain court clash once again played a spoilsport for her.
After the scuffle between Kamilla Cardoso and Flau’jae Johnson, Angel chose not to get involved. Her stance however has badly backfired prompting a quick response from LSU’s top gun.

In the backdrop of the basketball brawl, Bayou Barbie put out a post, “As a person at my STATUS, sometimes you have to walk away from certain situations. Mind you, the play before that I had rolled my ankle AGAIN and was already walking to the bench. I ALWAYS ride for mine. I’m super proud of this team & super excited for March. #geauxtigers,” citing her decision to walk away from the on-court dust-up because of her status and a rolled ankle, which turned out to be a wise decision. Had Angel been involved in that skirmish, she would have been sitting with her ejected teammates.
Moreover, she expressed her firm support for her team. Despite her twisted ankle, the Baltimore Blood performed valiantly against Mississippi as she scored 21 points, and 17 rebounds. However, her ankle was still a concern as she was wearing a walking boot during the SEC championship game against Gamecocks.

The game clock was closing in to the last 4 minutes and the stakes were flying high in the air for LSU. Just then Reese was fouled out and her departure from the floor became pivotal as LSU had a narrow lead of 67-65. With Angel off the court and Gamecocks closing in, the rest of LSU squad felt short. Gamecocks capitalized Reese’s absence, concluding the game with an 11-3 run.

As a consequence to that, she has been declared ejected by the officials and will not be participating in the 1st round of the upcoming NCAA championship Tournament.
In reflection of her deeds, Cardoso has released a statement on social media apologizing for her antagonizing behavior saying, “I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for my actions during today’s game. My behavior was not representative of who I am as a person or the South Carolina program, and I deeply regret any discomfort or inconvenience it may have caused. I take full responsibility for my actions and assure you that I am committed to conducting myself with the utmost respect and sportsmanship in the future.”
