The Gonzaga Bulldogs are closing in on what may be the first March Madness win in the history of the program. They aren’t traditional heavyweights like many of the blue-bloods in the NCAA. However, they have developed one of the most consistent programs in the NCAA and it is paying off with an unbeaten season.

One of the key facilitators of this winning streak was big-man Drew Timne. Timme was an early shout for National Player of the Year and is one of the main reasons behind the success they have had that season. However, former NCAA coach and current analyst Seth Greenberg told Stephen A. Smith that Timme may have the greatest footwork he has ever seen.

“The dude has the best footwork I’ve ever seen. Like Baryshnikov or one of those dudes. I don’t even know famous dancers, but he’s got great footwork. Ever.”

Stephen A. was rightfully upset after that statement. He threw out the names of some of the greatest big-men in NCAA history in Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Shaquille O’Neal, Ron Seikaly, and others. While Timme will be remembered as something special, it may be a stretch to say he has the greatest footwork ever.

Gonzaga Bulldogs: Where does Timme rank amongst the all-time greats?

The Gonzaga Bulldogs have a special talent in Drew Timme. However, to put him at the level of all-time greats is very puzzling. Many would argue that Timme doesn’t even have the best footwork of any big-man in this NCAA season. After all, Luka Garza just won AP Player of the Year based on his tremendous skill and footwork.

Timme succeeds the way he does because of the system that the Bulldogs play in. They are one of the most potent teams inside the painted area, and Timme is the main reason for it. However, he cannot compare to the likes of Shaq, Olajuwon, and Ewing. Not only did they do it in the NCAA, but they are also all-time NBA legends as well.

But Timme may do something none of those centers could and that is wining an NCAA Championship while unbeaten. While that is still two wins away, Timme may have some hardware to back Greenberg up.
