In a highly anticipated matchup between Michigan State and Baylor, the Spartans sent shockwaves through the crowd. There was a sparkplug behind this sensational feat named Tyson Walker. As the match ended, Walker’s contribution took center stage as he dominated the court with an awe-inspiring 25-point performance. Seeing this work of art, many fans got eager to know more about the young star. 

The men of Michigan State secured a huge victory as they defeated the No.6 ranked team in the league with a final score of 88-64. This match not only was a win but was also a reminder to their haters as why they were the No.4 ranked in the preseason AP Top 25.

The Michigan’s ‘Protagonist’

Born in 2000, Walker played basketball for Christ the King Regional during his High School career. He led his team to a 22–5 record with his exceptional skills there. Because of his impressive talent, he received scholarship offers from several programs all over the country, but he announced his commitment to Northeastern. 

After having one of the best high school careers, he announced his commitment to Northeastern, where as a freshman he averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, which helped him earn the title of CAA All-Rookie Team. In his sophomore year, Walker led the CAA in scoring and steals by averaging 18.8 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. However, to take his game to the next level, he announced his decision to transfer to Michigan State

In an interview with The Athletic, he said, “I watched a lot of Michigan State growing up and what they do with their point guards and how they let them play. Once I got the call, my mind was made up after that.”

Currently, Walker is playing for the Spartans as a senior guard, and he is one of the most crucial players behind the success of the team. Notably, he is having one of the best seasons so far in the ongoing 2023-24 NCAA season.  

How has he performed so far?

The Spartans have played ten matches till now in the ongoing season, out of which they have lost five and won five. While this record of the Spartans raised questions among fans about the team’s season prospects, they are learning from their mistakes and improving themselves, and their most recent win against one of the best teams in the leagues serves as a testament to that.

Tyson Walker is currently averaging 20.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Seeing this level of improvement by Walker, fans anticipate that he will lead his team to glory and will make history.
