The Naismith College Player of the Year for 2023 showcased her brilliance yet again as she took on Virginia Tech. In a close encounter, the Iowa Hawkeyes edged past Virginia 80-76. As usual, the highlight of the Hawkeyes’ win was their rockstar, Caitlin Clark. However, the point guard wasn’t very happy about her individual performance.
Clark has a habit of headlining her skills every time she steps on the court. But this time around, she weighed in on some important aspects of a thrilling encounter.

The announcers caught up with Caitlin Clark to talk more about her scintillating exhibition on the court. On being asked about her evaluation, Catlin said, “It wasn’t the prettiest game. I think this win speaks a lot about our team. It speaks a lot about our culture. I couldn’t be more proud of these girls. We really battled through. We didn’t shoot the ball well. I didn’t shoot the ball well.”?
Apparently, Virginia Tech had no clue on how to put brakes on Caitlin Clark’s scoring throughout the night. The 2023 Associated Press Player of the Year finished her game with 44 points and had eight rebounds.
Last year’s finalist was quick to point out the contributions of her teammates. Adding further inputs about them, she said, “I don’t think Gabby Marshal scored tonight. But, she had to guard one of the best guards in the country. She worked her butt off and I’m so proud of her.”
Furthermore, she also mentioned the return of Kylie Feuerbach from injury. She added, “Kylie Feuerbach comes in and gives us great minutes coming back from an ACL injury last year. That was really good to see her come out and give us really a good spark there in the third quarter.”

The three-time?WBCA Coaches’ All-American Caitlin Clark had a wild night on the court. She got 13-of-31 from the field and registered five 3-pointers. In addition to this, Clark had 13 successful free throws off her 17.
Clark was effortlessly landing her one-handed scoop layups and making a complete mockery of Virginia Tech’s defense. Furthermore, the No.22 showed her abilities as a team player as she had 6 assists to her name.
