There’s nothing more inspiring for a young college athlete than a star they revere getting in touch with them. Such a special moment occurred for the University of Connecticut Huskies’ star Azzi Fudd when a video was posted by the NBA legend Steph Curry. It had the right amount of commendation and the fans were drooling on Curry for his kind gesture.

The video was posted on Instagram on what was an already special day for Fudd.

The NBA legend Stephen Curry was seen wearing the University of Connecticut star Azzi Fudd’s jersey on her 21st birthday. Curry posted the video on Instagram and congratulated Fudd. He had a simple message for Fudd who was seen doing some practice drills in the video.

Fudd could also be seen signing shoes for her fans in the video. But what Curry said had every basketball fan praising Curry for being generous.

“This is a special day. This is Azzi Fudd 21st birthday. Excited for all the success that you had ahead. Everything that you have accomplished so far is amazing is but I know that sky is the limit. It’s not just any birthday, it’s a special 21 st birthday. SO hope you enjoy 21st. Don’t do nothing I wouldn’t do. We all here represent Azzi Fudd. Happy Birthday!,” stated Curry.

Fudd was seen basketing three pointers in the video. She was also one of two women basketball players to have been a part of the Curry camp in 2018. The two have developed a bond since then. She was one of the first female athletes to join Curry’s brand company.

Curry had previously sported her jersey in an act of applauding her for her 40-point game in the absence of the UConn stars such as Paige Bueckers and Ice Brady. Curry had also sent best wishes for her game during last season.

As per USA Today, Fudd would be turning 22 next year, ticking off the eligibility criteria for the 2024 WNBA season. The Virginia-born would get an extra year to hone her game and can also be the No.1 pick during the 2025 season. Fudd can in the meantime make the most of the NIL deals she has signed. She can significantly improve her game starting this season.

Meanwhile, Fudd had injured herself the previous season after a teammate fell on her right knee. She did return late in the season but the UConn were eliminated during the Sweet Sixteen when they lost to the Ohio State.

With her peer Paige Bueckers making a comeback, thing are expected to be better this season for the Huskies. Starting on a positive note, the Huskies even upended the Dayton Flyers 102-58 in their season opener.

With Fudd turning 21, she might pick on more responsibilities within the team and a push from Curry is what can motivate her to make the most of it.

As for the UConn, a good coordination between their star players Fudd and Bueckers can help them get their hands on the silverware this season.
