After a night filled with referee calls, turnovers galore, and some poor shooting, LSU still managed to grind out a win against Vanderbilt 83-77, extending their undefeated streak to 19-0. And at the forefront of it all was the Tigers’ star trio. Flau’jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams, and Aneesah Morrow all scored in double digits, with Morrow extending her double-double streak.

Vanderbilt head coach Shea Ralph couldn’t help but heap praise on Morrow after the game. “There’s no substitute for what that kid has inside her heart,” she said. The coach also recalled, “I do remember when she transferred to LSU from DePaul, I was like, damn! We’re going to have to play against her because I remember what she did at DePaul and how hard she played.”

Morrow’s journey to LSU began in 2023 when she announced her transfer from DePaul. At the time, she was already a star, averaging 25 points and 12 rebounds, but had bigger dreams. “I always dreamed of playing for a top-tier program,” she said, and LSU provided just the stage she was looking for. And in no time, she became the backbone of the Tigers.

After Angel Reese left, many wondered if LSU would miss her double-double(s). Well, Morrow made sure the Tigers never felt Reese’s absence, easily stepping into the double-double queen role, extending her streak to 9 tonight and 17 overall.

As Ralph mentioned, Morrow’s intensity on the court makes her a nightmare opponent. “She’s a monster in a good way,” the coach joked. “She’s going to rip your heart right out of your chest, a competitor. It’s fun to compete against a player like that.”

And Ralph’s description of Morrow as a monster was on full display. She put up 23 points and 15 rebounds while “Big 4” led the way by scoring 25 points, and Williams put up 20 points. This game also marked a historic milestone for Morrow, who became only the eighth player in NCAA Division I history to record 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds in her career.

Talking about the senior’s future, the Vanderbilt coach had more to say, “She’ll have a long career in the pros. I always have so much respect for a player that plays as hard as she does.” And speaking of her pro career…

Will Aneesah Morrow join Angel Reese in Chicago?

Morrow’s professional future already looks bright, as she is projected to be the third overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. If mock drafts are correct, she could be heading back to her hometown to join the Chicago Sky. How fitting would that be for the Chicago native?

The Sky, who had a challenging 2024 season, could use someone like Morrow, averaging 18.4 points, 14.4 rebounds, and shooting 54%. Injuries plagued the team, and while Angel Reese shone as their centerpiece, the Sky still missed the playoffs. Reese’s double-doubles carried them through tough stretches, but she couldn’t do it alone.

LSU’s #24 is someone who excels in the paint and dominates the boards. She may not be a three-point sharpshooter, but her inside game and ability to score off the glass, the Sky could use. Morrow’s addition would also allow the Sky to manage Reese’s minutes more effectively, giving the team an epic duo.

The two have a history together, having taken LSU to the Elite Eight, and their chemistry on the court could transform the Sky. So, will the guard reunite with her former teammate in Sky? We’ll find out soon!
